Unified Education Framework Announced
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), partnering with the Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE) and JICA, officially introduced the Federal Non-Formal Education Strategy 2025 during an event in Islamabad. Unveiled alongside the Annual Statistical Report 2024-25, this initiative establishes a consolidated structure designed to re-engage out-of-school children across the nation.
Academic and Technical Tracks
Under the strategy, flexible learning pathways extend from the primary school level up to matriculation. A core component includes 18-month Middle-Tech and Matric-Tech courses delivered in collaboration with NAVTTC, combining basic academic instruction with practical vocational skills.
Target Demographics and Monitoring
The initiative aims to reach approximately 25.3 million out-of-school children throughout Pakistan. It pays particular attention to marginalized communities, such as refugee and minority students, while also involving non-formal education instructors. Student retention and academic progress will be evaluated digitally through the Non-Formal Education Management Information System (NFEMIS). Full deployment across provincial territories will depend on localized operational arrangements and funding availability.
