Transit fares across Islamabad's public transport network have been restructured under new measures introduced by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Flat fares for the city's electric feeder buses, alongside the connecting Green, Blue, and Orange metro lines, have increased from Rs50 to Rs100 per trip to bridge operational funding gaps. In contrast, fare rates for the Red Line Metro, which is operated separately by the Punjab government, remain unchanged.
Cashless Payments and Real-Time Tracking
Alongside the fare revision, the CDA has introduced expanded digital payment solutions across its fleet, which is run in partnership with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC). Passengers can now settle fares using debit and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard), mobile wallets including JazzCash and Easypaisa, or via QR code scanning on the CDA Mobile App. Stop details, schedules, and route information across all 17 feeder routes are now integrated into Google Maps, enabling live location tracking for riders.
Discount Package Status
Although proposals for reduced pass rates targeting senior citizens, students, and daily wage workers were submitted by the authority, formal notifications finalizing the rollout of these concessional packages have not yet been published.
